Vacation

Sorry for the blog silence this past week! We are on "vacation" and I haven't been keeping up like I thought I would. We spent the first week at my parents' house and the older kids attended camp. On Sunday, we drove from Michigan to Canada and stayed overnight in Niagara Falls. We finished our drive today and are spending the week with my brother in Pennsylvania. I have some new stuff to share, so stay tuned! I just can't make any promises about new posts _every single_ day this week.

Here are some pictures from our adventures in Niagara Falls.
We took a boat ride to see the Falls up close. Amazing!

All geared up and ready for the "mist".

  I love my red heads!!

VIDEO: Easy Slider Card Tutorial + More Samples

http://juliedavison.blogspot.com/2014/06/new-catalog-control-freaks-blog-tour.html
I made a slider card in March (see it here) with the Penny Farthing from the Timeless Talk stamp set. The idea on this card is similar, but much easier! Many thanks to Rachel Chamberlain for her fabulous demonstration at Spring Into Stamping this year. You can check out all of her awesome slider cards on her blog here. I have included pictures from Spring into Stamping of a few of my favorite slider cards that Rachel made.

I created a quick video tutorial to show you how to make the basic slider card. Once you know how to make it, you can embellish it however you'd like and even turn it so that it slides to the side instead of up or down.

The base of the card is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4" and 8". On my card, I used a slider piece that was 3-3/4" x 5".

Here are some samples that Rachel displayed at Spring Into Stamping:

Stampin' Up! Video: What's Your Type

Well, the last few days were even busier than I thought they would be and I have not had time to film the video tutorials for the Sea Street cards you have been waiting for. I had a Stampin' Up! Rummage Sale on Friday evening and Saturday morning. I sold quite a bit...but have sooo much more to get rid of! I'm trying to figure out how to easily post the leftovers online, but as I am packing tonight for a two week roadtrip, the virtual rummage sale will have to wait until July. So stay tuned!
I promise to get those Seat Street tutorials done once we get settled at Mom's for the week. So check back tomorrow for that! In the meantime, I wanted to share a video from Stampin' Up! with some fun ideas for using the new "What's Your Type" stamp set. It doesn't look like much in the catalog, but once you see all the ways you can use it...the possibilities are endless!

Check out the Stampin' Up! YouTube Channel for even more videos featuring products from the new catalog.

New Catalog Control Freaks Blog Tour: Sea Street

It's time for another Control Freaks Blog Tour! Whether you're coming from Flowerbug's Inkspot (LeeAnn Greff's blog) or just arriving -- welcome!! I'm so excited about this month's theme! We're showcasing projects using products from the brand new Annual Catalog! Hopefully we'll add a few things to your wish list as you take the tour!

The projects I am sharing this month use the new Sea Street stamp set. The nautical themed stamps are perfect for summer crafting. Paired with the Maritime Designer Series Paper, it's also great for masculine cards!

This first card was inspired by my friend Rachel Chamberlain, who demonstrated this slider card at our Spring Into Stamping meeting in April.
When you pull up on the card, the octopus swims up! I designed this one for a workshop I had earlier this month. Everyone loved it! It looks much more complicated than it is. I hope to film a video tutorial tomorrow, so be sure to check back and I'll show you how to make this slider card.
The second card is one of the three in my Stamp of the Month Club series for June. I used the Aquapainter with some Coastal Cabana ink to create the "water" background.

I have been having so much fun with the Sea Street stamp set! Watch for even more Sea Street project ideas in the upcoming week!
That's all I have for you today! Be sure to come back and visit me again for more new catalog projects and inspiration! For now, it's time to continue on with the tour and head over to see what Justin Krieger at JK Cards has in store for you! I love his clean and simple style!

Stamp of the Month Club: Sea Street

As soon as I saw the Sea Street stamp set in the new catalog, I knew that I wanted to feature it as a Stamp of the Month. The nautical themed stamps are perfect for summer crafting. Paired with the Maritime Designer Series Paper, it's also great for masculine cards! My first card in this June series uses one of the card layouts in my Pocket Full of Sketches Book. (Learn more here.) I'm excited to be working on volume 2 of clean and simple layouts to be released this summer!
