Watercolor Trio Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are hard to make. I feel like they shouldn't be bright and cheerful, but I don't want to make them too dark or drab either. I needed a few sympathy cards last week and turned to the Fall To Layout #95 (FTL95) over on the Clean & Simple Stamping Blog to get me going. The layout reminded me of the Autumn Traditions Butterfly card we made at one of my card classes last fall. And what luck! I just happened to have some pre-cut pieces leftover from the class, so the cards came together pretty quickly.

Supplies: Watercolor Trio, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Ruby Red marker & cardstock, More Mustard marker & cardstock, Always Artichoke marker, Elegant Eggplant marker & cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Autumn Traditions DSP, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

Alaska Bound!!

As I've mentioned in previous posts, I have been feverishly working toward earning my 4th incentive trip this month and it is officially official today -- My husband and I will be cruising to Alaska next May for FREE on Stampin' Up!'s dime. I didn't think it was going to happen this year, but with the special double cruise points that Stampin' Up! offered demonstrators in May and June, I was able to pull it out.

So HUGE hugs to all my downline and to my customers. ((HUGS)) It was a combination of my personal sales and promotions in my downline that allowed me to earn this trip. Alaska has been a dream destination for me and I'm thrilled to have a reserved spot on the boat!

And the best part is -- Mom earned the trip too!! We missed cruising to the Caribbean together this year, but now we'll have another opportunity to travel together in Stampin' Up! style. I can't wait!!

Star-Spangled Birthday Card

I love that July Fourth stamp set in the Summer Mini Catalog, but you can use other stamp sets and products to create a patriotic cards if you don't have that stamp set. I was inspired by Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 36 to create this red, white, and blue card with the retiring Starring You stamp set and Christmas DSP -- yes, Christmas!

The stars are stamped in Vanilla ink on Night of Navy cardstock. (I had to substitute Vanilla for White to match the DSP.) I love this layout! You may recognize it from the owl card I posted last week or this bug card from last year. If you try this layout, be sure to leave a comment on this post so I can check it out!

Supplies: Starring You, Night of Navy ink & cardstock, Very Vanilla Craft ink & cardstock, Kraft cardstock, Merry Moments DSP, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch

Nursery Necessities Baby Cards

Finally catching up on some more baby gifts over the weekend. I used the retiring Nursery Necessities and this clean and simple layout to make several cards. It may be hard to tell in the photo, but the stamped image is adhered to the inside of the card and peeks through the circle window on the front.

Supplies: Nursery Necessities, Brocade Blue marker & cardstock, Bashful Blue marker, Pumpkin Pie marker, Early Espresso ink, Whisper White cardstock, Pawsitively Prints DSP, 1/4" Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

Supplies: Nursery Necessities, Pretty in Pink ink & cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Early Espresso ink, Pawsitively Prints DSP, Scallop Edge Punch, 5/8" Certainly Celery Grosgrain Ribbon, 1-3/4" Circle Punch

Rejoin in July for Only $35!

This week, I celebrate my 8th anniversary as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Just recently I put together a little "How Well Do you Know Your Demonstrator" quiz for my customer appreciation nights and one of the questions was how many members of my family have been Stampin' Up! demonstrators. It's truly a family affair for me! As I have mentioned many times, my mother is also a demonstrator. She signed up under me 7-1/2 years ago as my first recruit. But you may not know that my sister-in-law and BOTH my sisters have had runs as demonstrators too! My older sister Yvonne just called me to say she rejoined (under Mom)! She's excited about the new catalog and can't wait to get started again!

Are you a former demonstrator who has considered rejoining? Stampin' Up! just announced a special Rejoin Kit available only in July which includes all the business supplies (catalogs, order forms, etc.) you need to get your business started again.

If your former upline is no longer active and/or you're looking for a new group, I would be happy to discuss this opportunity with you. The Rejoin Kit is not available online and paperwork must be mailed in for it. Send me an email or give me a call and I'll fill you in on all the nitty gritty and get the paperwork started.

Happy Birthday to My Hubby!

I'm going to keep this short because today is my husband's birthday and I'm going to spend the evening on the couch with him and a movie. I didn't get a chance to finish his birthday card yet, but here is a great masculine birthday card that would be suitable for this occasion.

It's hard to see in the photo, but I dry-embossed circles on the Sahara Sand panel the "old-fashioned" way with the brass template and stylus. Now that the Big Shot and embossing folders are so popular, the brass templates and light table are retiring -- so is the stamp set, Owl Together Now. (Click here to view the Last Chance Lists.)

The finished size of this card is 3-1/2" x 5-1/2".

Supplies: Owl Together Now, Sahara Sand cardstock, Ruby Red marker & cardstock, Soft Suede marker & cardstock, More Mustard cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Jet Black Staz-On ink, Autumn Traditions DSP, 1-1/4" & 1-3/8" Circle Punches, Scallop Circle Punch, Dots Classy Brass Template, Stylus

Monogram Presto Patterns Card

Our second Stamp Club project this month was inspired by a card that Shelli posted on her blog here. I love the brayered paper with the ribbon and mini vintage tag. Mine is a little different -- I used an envelope to make a sleeve for the card and then a simple card that slips inside. I started by sealing the envelope and then cut 1/4" off the top before using the Scallop Edge Punch. Thanks for the inspiration, Shelli!

The Presto Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper (#117175, $11.95) is in the Summer Mini Catalog. It has glossy designs that "magically" appear when you brayer or sponge over it. The Mini Vintage Tags (#118763, $4.95) are also in the Summer Mini Catalog.

Supplies: Rough Type Alphabet, Elements of Style, Presto Patterns DSP, Very Vanilla cardstock, Old Olive ink & cardstock, Old Olive Satin Ribbon, Very Vanilla Medium Envelopes, Scallop Edge Punch, Rubber Brayer, Mini Vintage Tags, Stampin' Dimensionals

Petal Card Box

It's been a busy week with Stamp Club and I am sooo glad tomorrow is Friday! I'm ready for the weekend. Ready to clean up and catch up!

For this month's Stamp Club projects, I tried to use a combination of retiring products and new products from the Summer Mini Catalog. For this one, we used the retiring colors Bermuda Bay & Crushed Curry, along with the retiring Petal Card die (for the Big Shot) with the Summer Mini Catalogs stamp set Tropical Party.

I was inspired by this box my mom posted last month. I love finding new ways to use punches and dies. (Click here to see the Petal Card turned into a Valentine treat pocket, here to see a Halloween treat sleeve, and here to see it used on a card.)

The lid is the Petal Card die and the box is a 6" x 6" square. Score it at 1-3/4" from all sides. Cut lines on the opposite side and adhere the box together using Sticky Strip.

Supplies: Tropical Party, Think Happy Thoughts, Bermuda Bay ink & cardstock, Crushed Curry ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Green Galore ink, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Scalop Circle Punch, Bold Brights Brads, Mat Pack, Paper Piercer, Petal Card die for the Big Shot, Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Ribbon, Sticky Strip, Stampin' dimensionals

Watercolor Trio Meets Flower Trio

One of my customers invited me to stamp with her friends at their monthly card club. Everyone brings a card to make and they pass trays around the table shoebox swap-style. I brought Anna along with me and she was an angel! She slept almost the entire time we stamped and everyone got a chance to hold her when she wasn't. It was a great time and I hope to be invited again some time (hint, hint!)

Here is the card I designed and brought to card club. We used the Watercolor Trio stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog and added flowers punched from the Flower Trio punch (#109183, $15.95), which is retiring June 30!

Supplies: Watercolor Trio, Bermuda Bay ink & cardstock, Certainly Celery ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Certainly Celery Prints DSP, Trio Flower Punch, Silver Brads, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack

Razzleberry Lemonade Memo Board

Here's another version of the Magnetic Memo Board I posted in April. (Click here to see the original post and all the details.) I used the Raspberry Lemonade DSP (#115675, Sale: $7.46) for this one. This DSP is so summery! I will miss it when the new catalog comes out on July 1st. Order now before it's gone!

The magnet uses the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set and matching Bitty Buttons. I made the same embellishment with different colors for the Island Oasis Favor Box. Click here to see that post and how I made the 10 petal flower.

Firework Flower Card

Here's another card with the July Fourth stamp set. Look closely at the flower -- I used one of the firework images on the flower and it's center. I stamped in Melon Mambo twice -- one on Whisper White cardstock and once on Melon Mambo cardstock and punched them out with the 3/4" Circle Punch and Fancy Flower Punch.

The leaves are punched from the Two-Step Bird (it's the wing) and the "Thinking of You" stem comes from the retiring Thankful Thoughts stamp set.

The finished card is 3" x 6".

Supplies: July Fourth, Thankful Thinking, Melon Mambo ink & cardstock, Green Galore ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, 3/4" Circle Punch, Fancy Flower Punch, Two-Step Bird Punch, Clear Buttons

July Fourth Fireworks

I CASEd this card without even realizing it. As I browsed the SCS gallery last night, I found the original card by Nikki Bond and remembered seeing it before. The layout obviously stuck in my head and influenced me when I created this version with Night of Navy and the new Cherry Cobbler.

The card uses the FTL86 sketch, turned on its side. You've seen me use this sketch before on this card and this card. It's such a great clean and simple layout!

Supplies: July Fourth, Cherry Cobbler ink & cardstock, Night of Navy ink & cardstock, Whisper White Craft ink & cardstock, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch

Free Stamp Set of the Month: Punched Posies

Thanks to everyone who placed an order with me during my maternity leave. In addition to the free gifts I offered each person, I drew one winner from all of the online and email orders May 1-June 15 to receive a free stamp set (any price) of their choice. Everyone received one entry for each order they placed and Iris from Talmoon is the lucky stamper to win! Congratulations, Iris!

My maternity leave special is officially over and I'm "back to work" again with stamping events. In fact, I'm in my final push to earn the next incentive trip. I have less than two weeks left to earn my spot on the cruise to Alaska. And to say "thank you" for your help in getting me there, I'm offering an extra "Free Stamp Set of the Month" giveaway.

To be eligible for the drawing, all you have to do it place an online order (email orders count too!) that is not part of a club or workshop. You'll get one entry for each order that you place with me between June 15-30. I'll draw a winner on July 1st and the winner will receive the Punched Posies stamp set, a current level 2 hostess set from the Summer Mini Catalog. You can also get this stamp set for FREE when you host a qualifying workshop! Call or email me to schedule your next party!

Starry Thank You

It's been a good week for stamping and I have lots of new stuff to share with you! I was so excited to finally get a chance to do another Curtain Call Color Challenge. I've been meaning to for the last couple weeks, but the deadline keeps slipping by me before I get anything done. This week's color combination is unique and I enjoyed playing with Dusty Durango, Rich Razzleberry, Basic Gray, and Sahara Sand.

The stamp set is July Fourth from the Summer Mini Catalog. It's a fun stamp set and perfect for patriotic cards, but also works well for other occasions if you break out the red, white, and blue!

Supplies: July Fourth, Thank You Kindly, Dusty Durango ink & cardstock, Rich Razzleberry ink & cardstock, Basic Gray ink & cardstock, Sahara Sand ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Large Star Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

Father's Day Card

Here's the card I made for my dad for Father's Day. My parents are huge Detroit Tigers fans (see Mom's Opening Day post here). My gift for Dad this year is Tiger-themed, so I made a card to match!

The blue and orange paper from the Travel Journal Designer Paper was perfect! I added images from the (soon-to-be-retired) Just Baseball stamp set and finished it off with the greeting from All Holidays.

[Edited, 6-18-10: I forgot to add info about the sketch I used! I mirrored FTL #94 over at Clean & Simple Stamping for this card. I also linked it up today for Tracey's new challenge to create a CAS (Clean And Simple) Father's Day Card.]

Supplies: All Holidays, Just Baseball, Sahara Sand ink & cardstock, Night of Navy ink & cardstock, Pumpkin Pie cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Travel Journal DSP, Stampin' Dimensionals

Razzleberry Lemonade Thanks

Here's another quick thank you card I made up using the Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper. I wish the image from Razzle Dazzle (stamped in the corner on the Crushed Curry cardstock) had a little more "breathing room"...and I wished I had stamped the greeting over to the right a little more to be directly under the image. I guess we are our own worst critics, huh!?

Supplies: Razzle Dazzle, Thank You Kindly, Crushed Curry ink & cardstock, Rich Razzleberry ink & cardstock, Melon Mambo textured cardstock, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP, Silver Brads, 1/16" Hole Punch

Itty Bitty Birthday Card

Well, the card isn't Itty Bitty, but the stamps were!

Today we are celebrating my oldest daughter's 5th birthday! So in honor of Miss Claire, here is a birthday card I made that is almost as cute as the birthday girl.

I love this layout! I CASED it from the catalog in the fall with the Very Thankful stamp set (click here to see that card) -- and I thought it would be perfect for the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set in the new Summer Mini Catalog. I got my Itty Bits in the clear mount option, so I could line up the shapes in a row on my clear block and not have to worry about lining up each one as a I stamped them individually. So easy!

The finished card size is 3-1/2" x 5-1/2".

Supplies: Itty Bitty Bits, Wow Flowers, Bermuda Bay marker & textured cardstock, Crushed Curry marker & cardstock, Melon Mambo marker, Green Galore marker, Whisper White cardstock, Basic Black ink, Bitty Buttons, Scallop Edge Punch, Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots

Razzleberry Four Square Card

Technically, I guess there are only three squares and one shape on this card, but why get picky?

I love this simple layout. I saw a similar card (which I plan to CASE soon!) that reminded me of some cards I've made in the past (click here and here and here to view them). I used this quick layout to make up some thank you notes the other night as I was getting ready to send out some Petal Pizazz card kits. (I have more card kits and thank you notes ready to go! The Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Paper (#115675, Reg: $9.99; SALE: $7.46) is retiring and on sale for 25%, so make sure to get it while supplies last, before it's gone!

Baby Thank You Notes

I used a retiring stamp set (Very Thankful) for these thank you notes, but I also used a new catalog sneak peek product. Can you spot it?! It's the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch! I love that we have a larger Scallop Circle Punch that layers nicely with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch. I used it without any layers for this card.

The finished card size is 4-1/4" x 4-1/4".

Supplies: Very Thankful, Jet Black Staz-On ink, Pretty in Pink marker, Certainly Celery marker & cardstock, Wild Wasabi marker, Baja Breeze marker, Whisper White cardstock, retired DSP from my scrap folder (can't remember the name of it!), 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

Baby Brag Books

As a veteran breast-feeding mama, I've mastered feeding the baby while typing. Now if only I could figure out how to stamp and nurse...that would be the ultimate multi-tasking!

The kids are out of school for the summer. The night before their last day, I helped them make little brag books to show off pictures of their new baby sister to their classmates. I used a design one of my stamping friends came up with when she made 50 (!) brag books for her daughter's competitive cheerleading team. If I remember correctly, Jen was inspired by an old issue of our demonstrator magazine, Stampin' Success. The article included ideas for several different mini books. I used Jen's measurements for our books. The covers (front and back) are 6" x 6", scored at 3/4" from the top. The pages (our books had four each) are 6" x 5-1/2", also scored at 3/4" from the top.

I let the kids stamp and color the inside pages and then they narrated the "story" for me to write. Note: the stamps they used [Nursery Necessities, Holiday Blitz (rattle), and Taffy Alphabet] are all retiring!

Thomas' (pictured left) says: "This little elephant is singing a song for Anna while he's taking a shower." Claire's (pictured right) says: "The two little birds were finding their two rattles [which are on the moons] so they could share with baby Anna and have a playdate."

I used an old Simply Scrappin' Kit to create my own version for Jim to take to work. It's mostly just photos with a small bit of journaling.

Supplies: Nursery Necessities, Taffy Alphabet, Holiday Blitz, Fundamental Phrases (used on tabs in my book), Pretty in Pink ink & cardstock, Lavender Lace ink & cardstock, Sage Shadow ink & cardstock, Basic Black ink, Whisper White cardstock, Round Tab Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, Pewter Jumbo Eyelets, White Satin Ribbon, Crop-a-Dile

Time to Celebrate Ice Cream Card

Ms Claire's birthday is next Saturday (she will be 5!) Mom helped me design her birthday party invitations while she was here and we got them half down. Well, it took the rest of the week to finish. It will just be like one of those celebrity weddings, where guests get the invitation just a couple days before the actual event. ha ha! Thankfully, her friends already know about the party so the invitation is just a formality at this point.

We used the Square Lattice Impressions Embossing Folder to texturize the front and the Sweet Scoops stamp set (also from the Summer Mini Catalog) for the ice cream treat. I stamped the ice cream in pink ink, covered the cardstock in Versamark ink and embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. Then I put it out and popped it over the cone with a Stampin' Dimensional. I love the versatile Celebrate Everything stamp set (#114942, $18.95) that includes different words to pair with "Celebrate". It's on the retiring list, so make sure to order it before it's gone!

Supplies: Sweet Scoops, Celebrate Everything, Pretty in Pink ink & cardstock, Close to Cocoa ink, Whisper White cardstock, Versamark ink pad, 1-3/4" Circle Punch,
Scallop Edge Punch, Square Lattice Impressions Embossing Folder, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Top 5 of June 2009

This week went by so fast! I was hoping to do more stamping, but ended up crashing on the couch with the baby as soon as the big kids were in bed. I hope to squeeze in a couple cards right now before it's time to nurse again. In the meantime, I thought I'd share my top 5 favorite projects from last June.
